A strictly limited edition of just 448 numbered cars was built, with the last leaving the factory in December 2001. The 212, a development of the 166 cars, is often referred to as the first ‘production’ Ferrari, despite still being dressed by coachbuilders such as Touring, Vignale, Ghia and now Pininfarina. The 212 Inter established some ‘Pininfarina X Ferrari’ traits such as the egg-crate grille, smooth flanks and lack of showy adornment. Ferrari even turned to Pininfarina when producing top-end, limited-edition "hypercars." The F40, F50 and the Enzo Ferrari, a 2002 vehicle named after the man himself, were all designed by the firm. Pininfarina, the company that once acted as Ferrari’s favorite coachbuilder, will soon be in the business of making cars of its own.

The Ferrari P4/5 (officially known as the Ferrari P4/5 by Pininfarina) is a one-off sports car made by Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari but redesigned by Pininfarina for film director James Glickenhaus, son of stock exchange magnate Seth Glickenhaus. The Ferrari Pinin was a one-off concept car created by Italian-design studio Pininfarina, to celebrate the design studios 50th anniversary.Discussed by Enzo Ferrari as being turned into a production model, the proposal was dropped and the car remains a singular concept model, the first four-door Ferrari ever built. Ferrari used other coachbuilders in addition to Pininfarina in the 1950s and the 1960s, but by the 1970s, Pininfarina was responsible for every Ferrari road car except for the Bertone-penned 308 GT4. Pininfarina, the company that once acted as Ferrari’s favorite coachbuilder, will soon be in the business of making cars of its own. A supercar is planned, named PF0, as well as three SUVs. The Modulo originally started out as a Ferrari 512S (chassis and engine #27) and was converted to 612 Can Am spec.
